Unanswered: pulling manta engine

Where is the best place to attach the chains to the engine to get a balanced lift when pulling the engine up and out of an Opel Manta with the trans still attached? I got my engine pulled but I would like to have it a little more better balanced when it goes back in.
I have picked up an engine leveler with the crank to adjust the load in the mean time and that would seem to work best attached straight front to back not side to side.

Also, I had removed the exhaust manifold and tied it off to the side when I pulled the engine so I could sit in the engine bay after engine's removal to get to the exhaust header pipe to manifold bolts better and that seemed to work okay. I am going to install a sprint exhaust manifold on the 1974 Manta when the new engine goes back in or I would have just left it alone once the engine had come out. Trying to get the headpipe to exhaust manifold bolts out while the engine is in the car is such a major pain. Sprayed a lot of penetrating oil on them a couple of days before removing. Didn't break any knuckles or bolts! I removed the right side engine mount bracket before removal to eliminate the possibility of that catching the removed manifold which was still attached to the head pipe. Will probably do the same on installation- that is attach the new sprint manifold to the header pipe (it is an American style sprint so that should hook right up) and again, tie it off to the side as the engine goes back in and then simply attach the exhaust manifold up to the engine when it's back in, head pipe and all.

Any other tips on reinstallation would be appreciated!

I hook one end of the chain to the #4 exhaust manifold bolt (closest to fire wall)and the other end to the rear alternator bracket to engine block bolt. I know others do it differently, but this allows me to pop the engine and tranny out (and in) together... When it comes to getting the engine/tranny over the front valence, it does require lifting up on the tail shaft of the tranny...

The only problem I had was that the cables were to long
