Unanswered: Manta/Ascona Manifold - GT

I recently got an Intake/Exhaust manifold thinking it was for a GT, but it turns out it is for a Manta/Ascona. Does anyone know if this will bolt up the same as one for a GT? The holes all line up, and the bolts tighten down, but will it run properly, and will the Solex carb still clear the hood? The only thing I see getting in the way right now is the heat shield.. but other than that.. it looks as if it should bolt right up.

If not, will a GT Intake work with the "Manta" Exhaust Manifold?

Manifold

Jon,

If you are talking about the manifold you got from me,it came off my GT!
The stock head pipe fit just fine also.

Yes, thats the one Bob. Sorry I was just told by a few people it wasn't meant for a GT.. and the Heat Shield didn't fit right.. so I assumed they were correct. It's still being used.. don't worry. It bolts up fine, I just wanted to be sure (if it WAS for a Manta) that the Carb would still have clearance under the hood.

Just drove down by Detroit and picked up a brand new Head Pipe too! (Thanks Mike! ) And Thanks again Bob.. I really appreciate the favor! Finally things are coming together! Another Opel will be back out on the road!

Parts Book ...

The Manta/Kadett and GT intake and exhaust manifolds have the same part numbers - so it looks like that tells us that the same parts were used on ALL 1.9 mtrs from about 1970-73
I guess Opel just tilted the GT motor to get them to fit under the hood - and did not worry about keeping the carb level!
