Lightbulb Unanswered: Evolution of GM-Opel CIH engine

While researching information on the SIDI (LNF) engines used in the Solstice GXP, I ran across this "
GM_Family_II_engine GM_Family_II_engine
" reference link, which nicely details the evolution of Opel's 4/6 cylinder engines beginning with the CIH until today!

Thumbs up

Here is another (I thought) neat site with the history of the Opel CIH engine. I posted this one to the links page some time ago. Both sites are different so don't think if you've seen one, the other is going to be a total repeat.

Neat find Otto!

Great information!
So my GT has the worst head design Opel ever produced.
Wow, that Crossflow 16 valve head with a Turbo would have been a nice GM option.

Well I would not go that far.
If you look at the low-mid rpm port velocity of the head its not that terribly bad for a 40+ year old design.
