1) Once the retaining nut on the speedometer cable is backed off the cable should come right out of the 90 degree drive.
2) There are no rear engine mounts; the engine itself only has a left and a right mound and the transmission has a transverse crossmember that would be removed, but remember to support the back of the engine some how as the transmission mount is what supports the back of the engine.

The speedo cable should pull right out of the trans once you have unscrewed the knurled round connector. Same from the dash. Never heard of a problem getting it unattached.
The engine has the 2 front mounts and the rear is supported by the transmission rear crossmember near the trans tailshaft. |

Im taking the transmission out because i have a opel gt and its a opel manta transmission and its hard to shift into 3rd and 4th.
Well i took the transmission mount off and it didnt drop NONE. Maybe theres something blocking it from moving but everything looked free.

Your exhaust is probably holding the engine up and not letting your trans. drop down . Do you have stock exhaust or do you have Headers ? You will need to unbolt the exhaust at the head pipe ( stock ) or at the collector at the Header .
Your Trans. bellhousing bolts should be 15mm head size ( if bolts are stock ) Good luck. John
