Unanswered: help identify transmission

hi. i need help to identify a trans that says opel on it. i know pictures would help but i have none. tha numbers on the case are as follows;R6-666-487. under that is 7L 1 followed below with the number 86. it has aluminum tailshaft housing, and appears to be a three speed. it has a rather odd shift mechanism. the shaft also moves in and out as if it is searching for reverse, but could not do so. there appears to be no internal damage and it is very clean inside. has a bottom pan with drain plug. i think it around a 58-59 opel, but some research suggests vauxhall. would like to know year, model, and value as i would like to sell it. thanks in advance for any help. skip.

I have the parts book for the Rekords from 1958 to 1962, all of which had the three-speed available. A four-speed was available later on the Rekords, but it never made it to the US. In these parts books, the transmission is in parts group 7, so all transmission parts start with "7". The part number for the transmission case for what I believe is the left-hand steering cars, including all p 1s, P2s and 1200s, is 7-02-061. For right-hand steering cars it is 7-02-064. The four speeds used the same transmission case for both right-hand and left-hand drive models. Its number is 7-02-077. That is all I can find. Bill
