Unanswered: ARA A/C Parts
Partly for everyone's info and partly for my own, I am posting a couple of pics of this stuff.
I have most of the parts for the ARA set up (most of it in the auction ad section). What intrigued me was the 6 blade metal fan. All of this stuff came off a '73. I have never seen a metal fan on an Opel. It had a 3/4" aluminum spacer that I think is a generic type fan spacer. The reason I think this is it is virtually identical to another spacer I have. Normally, they have a smaller snout that sticks out, but both of the ones I have look like the snout has been broken off, not machined. Is this a common thing, or have I run across two identical backyard jobs? Has anyone else seen the metal fans? I'm posting the pic of the fan and spacer, but also a pic that has virtually everything needed that bolts to the motor. |

"No, it's not fiberglass."
"No, the motor is not in the back." "No, your friend in high school did not 'peg' his speedometer." |

ARA air conditioner
That is the after-market fan and adapter use with some ARA systems, it is supposed to pull more air through the radiator than the 5 blade stock fan. The adapter-spacer from the looks of it has suffered the pains of time and weather, like most aluminum it cannot take constant exposure to the elements, road salt and moisture. Just a WAG but I would say that the adaptor was not intentionally modified in that manner IMHO.
