Unanswered: Hello and Help!!

HI! Not sure where to start here. I have just undertaken some repairs on a 1972 gt and I can not find the blower motor for the life of me! Can some one help me out? I see where the heater hoses go into the box under the right hand side of the dash. Is it in there?

Thanks

Yes, the blower motor is in the heater box under the dash along with the heater core. The dash needs to be removed to get the heater box out.

Yep, that's where the heater/defroster radiator core and blower motor is. Here's the problem to access it. The steering column has to be dropped, the instrument panel removed, and the dashboard taken out. Not a job for the faint-hearted and it is not a weekend project. There are numerous threads on each of the tasks involved, and a search on this site, using the search button, will result in a lot of reading that will help avoiding the stumbling blocks others have found doing these tasks. One thing I will recommend if you decide to tackle the job, use care with the defroster ducts, they are old and brittle, will fall apart at the slightest touch, and are irreplacable. Welcome to the site and the fun of having a very neat set of wheels.

Dropping the steering wheel column on my GT required drilling out a couple bolts. And, while the dash is out, it's a good time to revinyl it. My defrost vents where bad too. I ended up using JB weld and building up the edges that where flaking away. Then, I sanded and repainted. They came out great. Have fun, Jerry

What he said, also take it from one that has been there, take the passenger seat out and sit it outside the car,makes for much less wrestling to get the dash pad out. While you are in there take the heater core and have it cleaned and pressure tested before you put it back togather, because if you don't that will be your next problem and you will get to do it all over again.

GTfixer;
Before you get into tearing the dash out and such, try getting another heater unit off Ebay, or someone here on the site, fix it, make sure the fan works and such, then take the dash out. That way you KNOW the one going in works correctly.
