Opelo,

A photo is worth a thousand words. If you could take a photo of the base unit that would be great, however what I think you have has been replaced by the new cell phones that hook on to your belt.

What you have there is the old car phones that operated on VHF, and sometimes they required an operator to place the phone call for you (very old). I would recommend that you just take it out of the car and use it as a boat anchor, that is about all that it is good for.

I dout it very much. The only thing it is good for is a door stop (the solex of car phones).

Unless in Opelo's country it still has the service it is only good for the copper in the radio it self.

It could very well be a GSM-phone from 1998. The GSM-network was opened in 1993 in my country, and I bought my first GSM-phone in 1997. An Ericsson GH198. It was twice the size and weight of todays phones. I`ve heard that we were way ahead of the US at this side of the pond. Opelo, lets see a photo of the base, if possible.

Hallgeir,

You are correct. It may be one of the first generation of 900 MHz cell phones, but it could also be one of the old 450 MHz car phones. If we had a photo we could tell.

Opelo,

This is a 900MHz cell phone not the 450. As far as what will fit and what you can use, if it was me I would take it out of the car. It does not matter what radio/tape player you have in the car this was a aftermarket item that is no longer supported by the manufacture (at less on this side of the world, it maybe different over there).

This type of phone was tied to the car and was very heavy. It is like the old WWII walkytalkies.

Bottom line take it out and get yourself a new cell phone.

I agree. Take it out. I would go for a new Sony Ericsson (my choice) with a hands-free set.
