Unanswered: heater a/c fan upgrade
Has anyone retro fit a more modern fan(quieter or more powerful) for either a Opel heater fan or A/C fan ??

I looked at smallest (Vintage-Air) A/C & heat combo units, and all appear too large to fit under GT dash. Think if spare tire was removed, combo units might fit in rear deck, but still would have to duct air to front of interior.
What if relay was installed (like headlights?) to supply more voltage to blower motor? More volts may not increase blower output due to blower motor limitations. Should have an extra blower in my parts, will have to take a look at motor. Does dash pad require removal to remove blower assembly? Last edited by Lindsay; 06-26-2007 at 06:09 PM.. Looking at GT schematic for blower wires (Incorrect): 12 GA Black 18 GA Black / Red / White. Just checked actual early 1972 GT blower motor. 73 GT Blower also is same wiring: 12 GA Red 12 GA Black Last edited by Lindsay; 06-26-2007 at 08:45 PM.. Reason: Schematic Error for later GTs'. |

It's actually pretty easy once you have the heater unit out. Just cut the fan section off and replace it with a high CFM pancake style fan. More effecient and quieter, be sure to clean out the heater core inside and out while your at it. That's a trick learned from installing twin carbs.
