Unanswered: Jack knob.

Does anyone know how the knob comes off the jack handle. I have a friend who has a broken knob and wants to replace the piece. Is there a clip on the end of the crank or is the knob swagged on in some other fashion? Any help?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave;
It might be easier just to send him a whole jack. I have several of them with good knobs.

Jack.

Gene,

You are right. The only problem is that it is $37 to mail a jack to Portugal. I was hoping to get by for less. I have a rusty jack that I can cut the knob off and just send it. Ricardo can engineer the knob on the jack with the broken one.

Sound logical to you?

Sounds like a plan to me.

there is a metal ring in a grove on the jack handle that fits in a grove inside the knob.you might be able to put the jack handle in a vice and pull it off.the handle on mine broke and I made a new one that is held on with a set screw going into the grove on the handle.

Metal clip.

George,

That pretty much sounds like what I thought might be a retainer for that knob. I couldn't see much else that could be used.

Thanks for the confirmation.

My knob turned into a pile of pink dust. I did this.
