GT, right? There is a little foot switch on the floor next to the clutch pedal. When you press this switch, it triggers the wipers, and also pressurizes the washer system from a little rubber bladder in the switch unit. Over time, these will crack and leak, and you won't get any pressure to move the fluid. Also, a couple in-line check valves will help prevent the fluid from siphoning back into the foot pump/switch.

As the foot pump is pressed, the fluid is pushed through the system and out the spray nozzles. When pressure is taken off the foot pump, the rubber bladder expands and draws the reserve washer fluid into the line by suction. The positioning of the one way valves make the system work. I think the stock set up is one near each nozzle only. Although, I think the system can work fine with just one located between the reservoir and before the line splits to each nozzle.
