Unanswered: Wipers Don't Work (was "Thanks, and success")

To all the folks who responded to my inquires and whining last fall. Thanks! I have resolved my "dim headlight problem." Because of an early winter here in the northeast I wasn't able to solve the problem till snow melt and warmer temps. The "dim headlight problem" turned out to be a bad ground. I was prepared for the headlight rewire procedure, but didn't need to open 'er up. Not just yet anyhow. I appreciate all the input I received from everyone. Ready to put "Bessy Lou" back on the road after 23 years!!! My only roadblock to state inspection is wipers. Wiper motor test good, may be the switch. Any comments on replacing the switch without dashboard removal? Haven't seen anything in the manuals.

Thanks again. Drive it like ya stole it!!!!

Bro

Have you checked the fuse? IIRC the wipers are on the same circuit as the reverse light. If it is the later style trans with the internal reverse light switch it will blow the fuse every time you shift into reverse if the switch has gone bad. Just a thought.

If you just painted the wiper motor area, make sure there is a good gound
from the mounting screws. I had this problem in the past.
Just thought it may be something to check.

If you still have the original headlight wires from the front shock tower to the lights replace them now! These wires will fail and possibly burn your GT to the ground. It is not a matter of if, but when.

Thumbs up Wipers are working

Once again a bad ground was the culprit. This seems to be recurring issue because of a 28 year layoff of just sitting there off the road. I reccomend that before diving into a problem don't makr it more complicated than it needs to be. Check the simple first!
