Unanswered: My Manta's Cruise Control.

Since several people have asked me about my Manta's cruise control, I thought I'd post the lowdown.

It's a Rostra Controls 250-1223 Electric Servo with the optional drive shaft magnet kit needed with automatic transmission because of torque converter slippage.
Manual trans can use signals from engine ignition sources to sense rpm.

It's a simple install (as most aftermarket cruise kits are) and includes all parts needed to mount on both EFI and carb engines. It includes your choice of control switch.
I also put one on my 1963 Thunderbird. Both have performed flawlessly after several thousand miles.

Link to manufacturer:
Rostra Precision Controls, Inc.

Mine came from a local sound and accessory shop but it's sold under
other names like Dakota Digital. I think JC Whitney sell it also, at least they did when I bought mine. Prices vary but keep in mind many installers use Rostra products because of their quality and very low call back for repairs.

Also I was asked if this unit would fit a GT. I would think so, but others who have done CC on a GT would be better to answer.

Thanks Mark, I'll be checking into it. Did you change your turn signal stalk or is there another option?

I went with the separate switch mounted stalk that installs a couple of inches
below the turn signal stalk.

Iirc. They offer an option of a turn switch stalk that piggy backs on
the shaft.

Also a small rectangular switch pad that can be mount on a flat surface.
I used one of those on my '63 Thunderbird since it has the swing away
steering wheel and column.
