Unanswered: antenna electric; up/ down.

The orginal antenna for the GT was electric up/down
Can these be repaired? if not any suggestion on a replacement

dont know if you can get things like that fixed now as we live in a throwaway world and you will probably be able to get a new 1 cheaper than a repair
check out your local ICE store for info
mine was pull up 1 when i got the car so dont know if they were electric as standard but did not think so

Sorry, but you have to be YOUNG. Very few cars of that vintage had electric antennaes.

Not ONLY that, but the GT's stock antenna is different from the Kadett's, for instance, though both ARE manual.

Remember, too, that Opels imported to North America were considered "Economy/Entry Level" cars and didn't even offer an electric antenna as an option. On the other hand, the Euro models didn't offer A/C, even as a "dealer installed" option.

There are numerous other subtle differences between the "same-year" Euro and NA models, side markers come to mind, smog controls, etc.

A/C the penalty for living in texas otto
come live here its like new england in the winter and thats when its high summer
