Unanswered: Need a bit of help hooking up the AC
Folks, I'm at an impasse, I got the integrated wiring harness all done on the V-6/T-5 swap except for one relay hook-up and I need some help. In order to hook up the AC system to the engine computer, I need the Opel GT AC wiring schematic. I tried to download the 73 FSM after I downloaded MacroMedia Flash and could not download the FSM to get the wiring schematic. So, if one of you folks could help one way or another to get me the schematic I would greatly appreciate it. Once I get the relay wired in, the whole power panel can be installed and I get to route the harness throughout the car and start hooking things up. Like lites, instrument panel, well, you know the drill. Yes, it will look better when I'm done and it will fit, I think. TIA. :o

No sooner said than done!
Hope this helps, Ron - It is from the 1972 GT Air Con supplement.

Jim, that is outstanding, I got it printed out and will study it a bit to figure which way to hook up the relay. I'm trying to decide whether the relay will operate/power the whole system or just the compressor. Either way I'll have to figure out where the signal will come from to actuate the relay. That's the main reason for the query for assistance. Now let the fun begin. And thanx again for the assist.

Bit of a brain teaser....
To controlthe entire system the relay needs must be in the brown wire but to swithch the relay would maybe need another "Air Con" switch on the relay to activate it. Plus the switches would still carry the full current.....
Looks like it may need four relays to fully protectt he switches with each of the motor speeds and the compressor clutch seperately wired ...... |

From what I can get from the schematic Jim, the compressor is turned on by the temp rheostat so that's probably where I'll get the signal voltage for the relay to the compressor, as the temp rises or falls, the rheostat will power the relay to turn on the compressor or drop it off line. That way power for the blower motor, through the one rotary switch will be just for the blower, and signal voltage to the relay. I'm going to eliminate the vacuum switch, I think the V-6 has more than enuff HP to handle the compressor. Margaret's Montana has the same engine and has no problem turning the compressor at idle. I'll have to use the last spare circuit breaker in my power panel for the blower motor power, but that's the reason I had spares to begin with.
