It's funny, I was trying to also figure out what switches I would need. I can't think of one. Maybe if we all installed power windows and locks? It is easy to do from my end to build up one prototype and test out, I could even use a cardboard cover short term. I can do it one of two ways:
1: include the relays on the PC board and mount them under the cover or 2: just put the relay drivers on the PCB and provide those wires out and you can wire them into your own relays. Is 4 the right number? I can add as many as you want, but 4 is nice and easy. How do you want to actuate them? with a magnet or with a piece of metal? I like the idea of using a magnet to actuate it, but then you have the concern of losing the magnet. Another easy way to do it on my end would be to actuate it with a steel piece. Put the steel piece over the sensor and the relay turns on (or off, just as easy), pull the steel away and it turns off. Where these are usually used is for like door handle latches, or also it is commonly used for wheel speed sensors for ABS, camshaft, crank shaft, transmission speed sensors, the PRNDL position sensors for automatics, etc. |

Interesting, sort of a hidden security feature?
I am having difficulty trying to figure out mechanically we would set it up so that whatever is there won't fall on the floor when you go around a fast corner or stop fast, in turn shutting off all the relays. One nice thing about a toggle switch, you always know where it is. I always had hoped to use it to 'shave' the door handles off a car. Put a magnet in the right place and a solonoid would magically unlatch the door. You could keep a magnet on your key chain. |

True. So, anybody got any ideas on how to make this work? Or better yet, why? Maybe I got things off thread with the hidden switches idea. It was going pretty well with conventional toggle switchs.

What else can we magically turn on and off? I don't want power windows or locks on my GT, but there has to be something. Lyle |
