Unanswered: thermostat housing gasket

I went to my local parts store to see if they had a thermostat housing gasket for my 70 GT 1.9L They listed one but when I matched it to the housing it looked too big. They said that its the basic one for GMs. Will a typical GM gasket fit? Or do I need a specific one for the GT?

You should be able to find an exact fit. I have found them on the rack at "pep boy's" just as long as it fit's the bolt holes, and the sealing area. You can cut and trim were necessary. It's not rocket science

Thermostat Housing

I recently restored my 70 Opel GT that I've had for 29 years so naturally I have quite a few parts laying around. I've got 4 brand new thermostat housing gaskets that I bought some time ago. I will send one to you free if you like.

Regards,
D. Mills

Thanks, but I worked it out. They had mislabeled the gasket. The gasket for the GT is a regular GM gasket.
