In any event, the current color looks awesome! I love silver GTs.

Colour info from "Opel GT Projekt 1484" book

the rare combination of a British Green body and black interior
According to the excellent reference book "Opel GT Projekt 1484", the British Green body colour (15 or 336) was indeed available in Europe with the option of black (751) or beige (701) interior. That was for 1900 models in 1969. The European 1100 models always had the non perforated black (451) interior. In 1970, the blue (711) interior option was added for the 1900. Anyone ever seen this combination?

I have read a lot about the specific details related to my car but it is a USA Opel GT. As I understand it the British Green was accented with a Buckskin interior.

In the USA, British Green was called GT Metallic Green and was only available for the 1969 model year and only with the beige (701) interior (both 1100 and 1900 models). So according to the book, the buckskin (721) interior was never used in combination with the British Green... Tom, what interior code does your tag show?

Patrick, The car looks great. However, I think silver was probably not the original color. The rear side markers are missing, which may mean, I hate to say, the car was rear ended and repaired by covering over the rear side markers and repainting the entire car. Jerry

No side markers.

Jerry, the european GTs didn`t have the rear side markers.

And, my VIN plate also says L75.1 ...yes, with a dot, and it has black upholstery.

I have a 69 1.9 GT, it's the British Green, with tan, or buckskin interior (what's left of it) I'll get a pic of the VIN plate and post it.

I have the same type as Gene (flat Panel) and here is a photo of the Vin plate. I noticed there are a few differences in the plate while viewing them, even though they appear to have come from Bochum. HTH, Jarrell

Tan, buckskin or beige - I think we are all saying the same color.

Sorry to be off topic, any reason why? I would guess that maybe US restrictions required them, but then since most where imported to the US, why not make them all the same? Jerry

sides are a US thing . dont think they are needed any place else in the world , putting them on a european sold car could confuse people and cause a crash if they thought a car was end on to them instead of side on (mine has them and was nearly run into twice before i took the bulbs out )
the light laws on cars differ all over the world , things like US cars can have red brake lights that flash as a turn indicator where in the EU it has to be amber

Still off topic, sorry for that, but I just remembered something from the stone age (+/- 1982) when I had an Ascona B. We were a couple of guys that mounted rear side markers on our cars, and we were of course the coooolest guys in town until one day the police stopped us, and told us to either remove the rear side markers completely, or remove the bulbs and paint the lenses black. They were in fact illegal in this country.

D O T ty

Perhaps the dots in the numbers were Hans' way of lining up the numbers and positioning them correctly on the VIN tag ??
Just something that occured to a guy who has stamped the occassional number (in the wrong place!) on some pretty expensive moulds and dies .....

"Hans! You vill place zee numbers here und here. Schnell !!"

Heres one for you, a 69 Opel GT with a color code of 1160. on the other side there's the number 15 701.The color now is a orange sort of color but I don't think it's original color. Underneath hood is green and under orange paint is a pale blue could be primer???

PECJE is what was your color code?
