Original GT tools

Just posted a new thread in "Opels in the Netherlands" It's about a Dutch test of the 69 Opel GT. The tested car looks very similar to mine. Also scanned, in the same thread, a page with prices of all cars that were for sale in may 1969 in the Netherlands (1 dfl = 0,62 usd) .
Note that the 1100 version of the GT was not available in the Netherlands. And now I quote, so please don't hold it against me: "a version that harms the image of the car" (words of the Dutch importer, so for that reason no 1100's were imported).

Unfortunately for most of you the item is written in Dutch. (if you want, parts can be translated)

However one thing bothered me.
The test speaks of STANDARD tools that were available in the car:
a jack, a wheel wrench, a screwdriver, a combination plier and a hammer!!.
I've never heard of (or seen) the last 3 tools as a part of the standard equipment. Never saw them on EBay either.
Does anybody know more about these standard GT tools???

I got my first GT in the very early 70's and do recall having some tools but have no idea what happened to them.. I also had/have and old fire extinguisher that clamped into the spare tire area.

I have the jack. The lug wrench I have from my 72 is in a leather pouch with OPEL embossed on it.

Can you tell me what it looks like. Does it have a Opel or GM logo on it or is it just an ordinary screwdriver?

Lug wrench

Is the lug wrench that came with the tool set a shorter lug wrench? I have seen a few in some parts cars and i did not know if they were originally part of the tool set. Did they have an opel stamp on them?

My lug wrench is approx 13 inch long, one side is for loosening the bolts, the other side is like a crow-bar and it comes in a pouch. Only the numbers 8-632 are stamped on the side of it. However it wasn't the original one that came with the car (mine was missing). I bought it a few months ago on Ebay.

That lug wrench and bag came through my hands before it went out your way. The lug wrench was definately an Opel one. And I'm pretty sure that the bag was Opel as well. It was light blue but it was made of the exact same material as the center section of the GT seats.

Yes I know that it is a original Opel one, and I still owe you and BQS4 one for purchaging it for me. Thanks again. I'm very pleased with it. What I meant to say is that it wasn't the wrench that originally belonged to my 69 GT so it is possible that those wrenches were slightly different.
Anyway I think that the wrench and jack are not the problem, it's the other 3 so called standard tools that bother me. Haven't seen one yet in my entire life.

I ask around a little about these myself. I think what I came up with is that last model GT didn't come with them. I had ask Flyboy and Jonco if the brand new 73 GTs that they bought had them.

As for the lug wrenches, I can say that I've seen a few difference when you put a bunch of the together. Some say HEYCO, some do not, some say 8-632, while others don't and sometime the stamping are in different places and sometimes they look slightly shorter.

George, at the bottom right of each post there is a "Quote" button, just click on it and it opens up a box similar to the "Post Reply" box. HTH.
