Parking Brake Tray "Slits"
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the purpose served by the two "slits" at the back of the parking brake tray on the top edge (right and left side). I've noticed them there a few times but have never really stopped to think about why they are there.

Ahhhhhhh...
. Really, it was a fantastic experience - I can't believe it has been a year though! I commemorated the anniversary of the start of the restoration by going for a nice long drive today. It is cold and windy here in Atlanta but the sun was out all day and the drive was great! The car performed wonderfully.Anyway, thanks for solving the mystery! And, thanks again for resurrecting my GT - I smile every time I get in for a drive! Matt |

My 72 has the original belts. The originals were a two piece affair. The shoulder belt was separate from the lap belt. The lap belt tab was on the left of the seat and the latch was on the right. There should be a dummy tab at the back of the center console for the latch to hook on. The shoulder belt had the latch on the belt attached to the door post and the tab part on the right of the seat. That tab fit into the slot at the back.
