Unanswered: Rare air cleaner-yes rare this time!!!

I found a rare air cleaner-I think I can call it that this time. It is to a 1970 Opel GT with 1.1. I looked at it for a while and wondered, until I got the part number. It is NOS and sometimes you get some weird stuff with those group NOS parts buys. What is unique about it is the heat riser tube, and vacuum operated flapper door. Works off of a heat sensor in the intake runner. Thought I would post a pic, as many only have a 69 1.1 GT-and yes, there was a 70 available with 1.1. This is for sale BTW.

cool

Never seen one like that before on the three 69 1.1L GTs I have seen. Maybe it is from a 1970 GT?

Part number

Part number states it is from a 1970 only-69 has different part number. Also has part number listed for the thermo sensor-which this has installed-also for 70 only

For some reason this thread is staying in the top 5 links, and is always marked as 'unread' even though there are no new replies. Anyone else having this problem or is it just my computer?

In the Headcount thread it keeps showing up as a new message there and when you go to it the last message posted is old.

Base low comp. 1.1

The base low comp. 1.1 was not available in the GT, going by the link, the 70 GT with the 1.1 was available with the dual setup. Perhaps this aircleaner is not for the GT. Still, any 38 year old NOS parts are great finds!

Guys...

Think about it guys, this is just like the 69 air cleaner in size, the NOS part number states 70 model GT only. Remeber the GT had the 1.1 SR with dual carbs. From the top of the dual carbs, a "Y" shaped manifold ,if you will, connected the two carbs together to a single Oval pipe. The rubber boot then connected the Y-Pipe to this air cleaner. Now I think you are getting the 1.1 SR from a Kadett mixed up with a GT, as they came as either two individual mini air cleaners, or a large oval air cleaner that connected both carbs. The question isn't what the air cleaner is for, that is decided from parts books. The statement was that it was a one year unique setup and it had the heat riser with vacumm flapper-I have never seen one till now-again I assume the GT quite carrying the 1.1 mid-year 70.
