Question Performance Package

I own a 1969 GT, Novemeber production and am lucky enough to have all the history of the car as I bought it from the original owner.

Amongst all this paper work is the original 'Certificate of Ownership' which released the car from Opel to the owner and on it is listed the equipment and accessories ordered, this being: US Equipment, Electric Heated Rear Window and Performance Package .

Whilst I know what the US equipment and Rear window dismister are but I have never heard of the Performance Package , can anyone explain what this is?

The only thing I think it could be is suspension. There were several types of front leaf spring. Check to see if you have front/rear anti roll/sway bars.

Ladies and Gentlmen.......if I could ask you to come back on track.

Whilst I understand that we all want to develop a database of all cars, the question I originally raised was about the Performance Package listed as an option.

Surely some of you stateside guys and gals will know what this is? Any ideas please let me know.

<Moderator's Note> I split this thread into this topic and one on a GT database

As Tarquin has already mentioned, I also think that "perfomance package" means that swaybars were added. Do you have them, and are the rear brackets welded on? The factory swaybar option was not available in the U.S. as far as I know. Some GTs made it over here with them, however, either by grey market or accidentally.

The other thing U.S. customers could not order was a limited slip differential.

(Can anyone confirm whether new U.S. GT owners were able to purchase swaybars and/or LSDs? I have heard rumors that Buick dealers may have had this option available in the 1969 model year only.)

I suspect that since your car was ordered and delivered in Europe, the previous owner had the chance to order this equipment for it... lucky duck.

Walter

quote from PROPEL...

i have no idea but i have a early 70 GT, belived to have left over 69 parts on it, sometimes it will spin both tires, depending on how hard you break them loose....maybe its a limited slip in a 70 GT.
