Clarifying.

It's not just the post anchor that is added. That is what makes it a shoulder belt.
There is also the recoil that sits next to the rear inner wheel well.
And the main anchor is down by the seat pivot.

And no picking on the condition of the car. Haven't started cleaning it up yet.

My 72 has a shoulder belt. It's really an easy mod of you decide to do it.
Pretty much it's just a hanger for the shoulder part that is bolted into the post in front of the side window.

That looks a bit more like original equipment or an older 1 piece belt kit. The part number from OGTS is #1033 .

The OGTS one-piece lap and shoulder belts are a must for safety. They work just like a modern seat belt and are very comfortable. Worth every penny IMHO.

I just did the opposite and got rid of my aftermarked seat-belts and reinstalled the original ones.
My early 69 GT has shoulder-belts, mounted beneath the quarter windows:

Both my 69's and 70 have just the lap belt the 71, 72, and 73 have shoulder harness but they vary in design one is full no choice, the 72's have a clasp you have to hook together making it a shoulder harness belt or it clips up next to the roof by the window post and the lap belt is used by itself.

Changing to an aftermarket seat belt system is high on my priorities.

I can't tell you how many times friends get in the GT and say "How does this work?" Usually they end up saying to heck with it and only using the lap belt.

Which is a good way to get cut in half. I won't go into all the gory details but a motivational speaker came to my work one time and his speech was all about a girl who was in a car wearing only a lap belt and basically was severed all the way to her spine by the belt. At the end of the long story you learn that it was his daughter. Through an amazing amount of will to live and years of therapy that included being screwed down in a body brace for months with no way to move, she finally "recovered". His message was the power of positive thinking and boy did it hit home! He also used the biblical story of David and Goliath to further his point of mind over matter. I recommend the modern belts!

Thumbs up

id rather have just the lap belt myself for my opels restore.

i have my original seatbelts that came with my cars extra ton o parts in a cardboard box lol. but ones rotten and theyre def gtn tossed out. theyre not saveable at all.

is just lap belts legal?. ive never ridin or seen a car with just a lap belt so that would also be unique for my restore.

Just lap belts are legal if that's the way the car was produced.

I got a set of belts from EBAY - only $30 each!

3 POINT RETRACTABLE SEAT BELT LAP/SHOULDER AUTO RELEASE:eBay Motors (item 110426803488 end time Aug-26-09 22:44:21 PDT)

I had to straighten out the receiver mount - it was slightly bent the wrong way. Other than that they fit perfect!

Legal or not why would you want to pivot about your waist and smash your face on the steering wheel in an accident .

Is there anyway to modernize the stock belts on a '73 while keeping the original two piece belts? Replace the recoil"er"s? I think they're awesome but I'd prefer to live.
