vin, vid, sni
Here is a comparison of my vin#s
69 title, 03-69* build date, vin# 942009782 70 02-70 942096373 72 07-71 772605728 72 02-72 772814043 72 07-72* 772926063 * Means I checked the build date but the cars are not parked near me and can't double check them at the moment so I'm not 100% sure, build date is on the drivers door tag. so....built in 69 and 70 start with 94 built in 71 and 72 start with 77 only year I can't look at is 73 but the book said 71-75 so I don't know whats up with that 79 #. Are you certain it's 79, which place did you get the 79 from? Can you double check dash to cowl to door? Sometimes they are so hard to read clearly. Maybe by using production #s per year you can tell which year if only it was a 94 or a 77. Don't know what else to tell you, maybe we can solve this puzzle with the help of some more people and more number comparisons. |

Go to the Opel Association of North America (OANA) site at:
http://clubs.hemmings.com/frameset.cfm?club=oana click on the "Library" tab, and open the "Opel GT Identification Reference" or try this link (direct to the Adobe article) http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/...ch/GTYears.pdf Interesting about the "79" for non-USA (and Canada, since mine is a '71 with the "77"). First time I have read that. |

And the colour? Check out the following table, which may be just for North American cars (and I presume you are in Europe), which shows the 451 code as "Brilliant White" in 1969 (which doesn't go around with the "79" VIN, so perhaps that just refers to the first year the colour was available?):
Also check out this link, which includes European codes: http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/...-opel-pg01.jpg OPEL 447 SINGLE STAGE REGAL GOLD MET 1969 - 1969 OPEL L135 SINGLE STAGE ASTRO SILVER MET 1969 - 1971 OPEL L235 BASECOAT STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L235 SINGLE STAGE STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L407 SINGLE STAGE SUNBURST YELLOW 1969 - 1970 OPEL L448 SINGLE STAGE SAND BEIGE 1969 - 1969 OPEL L450 SINGLE STAGE SUN YELLOW 1969 - 1969 OPEL L451 SINGLE STAGE BRILLIANT WHITE 1969 - 1969 OPEL L520 SINGLE STAGE RALLYE RED 1969 - 1969 OPEL L135 SINGLE STAGE ASTRO SILVER MET 1969 - 1971 OPEL L235 BASECOAT STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L235 SINGLE STAGE STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L406 SINGLE STAGE CHARTREUSE 1970 - 1970 OPEL L407 SINGLE STAGE SUNBURST YELLOW 1969 - 1970 OPEL L507 SINGLE STAGE COPPER BRONZE MET 1970 - 1970 OPEL L513 SINGLE STAGE RALLYE ORANGE 1970 - 1970 OPEL 304 SINGLE STAGE JADE GREEN MET 1971 - 1971 OPEL L135 SINGLE STAGE ASTRO SILVER MET 1969 - 1971 OPEL L205 SINGLE STAGE GLACIER BLUE 1971 - 1972 OPEL L235 BASECOAT STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L235 SINGLE STAGE STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L304 SINGLE STAGE JADE GREEN MET 1971 - 1971 OPEL L411 SINGLE STAGE RALLY GOLD 1971 - 1975 OPEL L416 BASECOAT ALPINE WHITE 1971 - 1973 OPEL L416 SINGLE STAGE ALPINE WHITE 1971 - 1973 OPEL L508 SINGLE STAGE FLAME RED 1971 - 1973 OPEL L529 SINGLE STAGE FIRE GLOW 1971 - 1973 OPEL L530 BASECOAT DEEP BURGUNDY 1971 - 1974 OPEL L530 SINGLE STAGE DEEP BURGUNDY 1971 - 1974 OPEL 303 SINGLE STAGE LIME GREEN MET 1972 - 1973 OPEL L205 SINGLE STAGE GLACIER BLUE 1971 - 1972 OPEL L235 BASECOAT STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L235 SINGLE STAGE STRATO BLUE MET 1969 - 1972 OPEL L411 SINGLE STAGE RALLY GOLD 1971 - 1975 OPEL L416 BASECOAT ALPINE WHITE 1971 - 1973 OPEL L416 SINGLE STAGE ALPINE WHITE 1971 - 1973 OPEL L508 BASECOAT FLAME RED 1972 - 1973 OPEL L508 SINGLE STAGE FLAME RED 1971 - 1973 OPEL L529 SINGLE STAGE FIRE GLOW 1971 - 1973 OPEL L530 BASECOAT DEEP BURGUNDY 1971 - 1974 OPEL L530 SINGLE STAGE DEEP BURGUNDY 1971 - 1974 |

What year is this car?
This information has been terrific! Looks like this is a late 72 model and the exterior color #529 corresponds to a Belgium color on the chart . The interior color 451 is black and there are some slight differences. Seats don't have perforations, door panels plainer and armrests smaller. Car is in Canada and needs lots of work. Thanks again, Frank
