original orange

I just got a GT. The original color was orange. I'm feeling a bit guilty for wanting to paint it silver, but someone was telling me that all GT's have orange undercoat? Is this true? I'm trying to avoind stripping this thing down so that I can paint every last piece, any ideas?

Gt's had several different colors, as for all being orange underneath, no way. As for re-painting it, go for it!

What ever the original color was of the GT coming off the assembly line, the whole car, inside, outside, over, under, around and through, that was the color that was used for the whole car. And I emphathize with you, my Significant Other saw a silver GT at the OMC picnic last summer and decided my GT would look good painted like that. So, as I'm transplanting the V-6/T-5, I'm also removing everything, stripping, chemically treating, and painting with POR-15 Sterling Silver with a Glisten PC topcoat on the outside, and Silver or Gloss Black on the areas where the UV rays won't get to the paint. What I've painted so far, just to see what the Silver will look like is very nice. At least I think so. Time and critics will tell.
