69 GT difference with PICS!
you all know i acquired a super rusty unfixable 69 1.1 liter GT. thought i'd start a thread with descriptions and pictures of "oddball" parts the 69 GTs had. for reference, this is a 69 1.1 liter SR GT. 4 speed car, production dates on guages were 12/68 and 1/69. VIN#931729350, engine#11SRUS-0051390, prod number U28C. will be adding to this thread for a few days as i part it out and discover more and more things. i dropped camera today and only have pics of inside heater valve, filler tube, arm rest, and signal stalk. ok, heater valve, obvousely different as its inside the car, and bolts directly to the heater core, with a tube bolting to the other side of the valve leading to the engine compartment for hookups. filler tube is same as usual, just no spot for the gas tank vent lines, i'll see how the rest of the tank is vented upon further dissasembly. arm rest is a 2 piece part, squared off, look at the pic, really odd. signal stalk looks normal for most part, but just has pushbutton high beam switch, instead of "flicker" highbeam switch.

I have a 69 that the floor pans are rotted out and the high/low beams are like jared said. A button on the stalk. We stuck a battery in it and hooked up a cheap electric fuel pump to the Solex and a 5 gal gas can, fired it up and the electrics work and the button did cut the high/low beams on/off. Jarrell

But holy flashback, Batman! I had TOTALLY forgotten about my mom's '68 Epic Envoy wagon (Vauxhall Viva in Chevy disguise) that had the horn button on the turn stalk. Was THAT a pain to get used to (it was my "learn to drive car" before I bought my '61 Bugeyed Sprite) Thanks for the memories. |

ok heres some more crap. i took pics of the gas tank ventilation but the way the sun was, it blurred them all up, will repost again tomarrow. BUT, it does not have the place on the filler tube for the ventilation tubes, and does not have the nipples on the corners of the tank for the ventilation system either. all this has is 1 fitting on the top of the tank, near the rear, a hose connects to it, does 1 loop and simply exits out the floor. there is a sticker explaining how to change the tire i've never seen before, and also showing pics of the hoodrod/cable i've yet to see. poor car literally has no body besides the doors and what little is left of the floors.

i forgot to add an important detail, it has a flat back panel. no use of taking pictures of it as it was a complete total twisted rotted loss.

thought i'd post this too, i've never seen it before. this tank has NO other place to vent rather than what you see there. simply from the top of the tank and out the bottom of the car.

J was behind the camera, as i'm camera shy. there is only 1 pic of me on this entire website, have fun searchin for it!
it started off as i coudlnt take the car to the junkyard in 1 piece as i have no title for it, but it was ok to take it in sections or pieces. it then turned into an interest in how they were built and put together. there really is quite a bit of metal up in the area of the firewall and infront of the doors, just too bad our feet are hanging passed it anyways!
