’73 Opel GT Emblems

I have noticed on some Opel GT’s that they have some markings on the front fender, behind the wheel and in front of the door. My car has nothing in that area of the car on either side. I only have the Opel emblem on the front center and the word Opel GT on the back center. Am I missing some of the emblems? Because it doesn’t look like there are any holes that you would mount the emblem to the car.

Thanks

Parker

Parker,

The emblems you describe on you GT are correct for a 71-73 GT. 69-70 GT's would have the side fender Opel emblems & the engine size emblem on the rear panel. Some also had a "GM" square emblem centered under the rear back window.

The 73 came as you have it also the 71 and 72, if it had the Automatic transmission it had Automatic on the rear panel below the Opel GT. The 69 and 70 had the OPEL GT on the front fenders, along with the Blitz on the front and the rear had Opel 1900 if it was a 1.1 it 1100 and the GM logo below the rear window on the rear deck. But I can be corrected, but this is how all of mine are marked emblem wise.

I have never seen a GT with the "automatic" emblem on the rear panel.

Try this link;

http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/...ch/GTYears.pdf

I found it using the search feature on this site

I've seen automatic badges on Manta's, Sport Wagons, Ascona's(1900's) and Kadetts, but never on a GT

...the front and the rear had Opel 1900 if it was a 1.1 it 1100 and the GM logo below the rear window on the rear deck. But I can be corrected...
Been covered before, but the 1.1L GT never had the "1100" emblem, either... just "O-P-E-L" on the back, the GM emblem on the deck, and the front fender emblems. I have seen "1100SR" emblems, however, similar to the "1900" ones, but I think these only appeared on Kadetts.

You sound correct

My 1973 did not have the side emblems, either. My 1969 does have them. It sounds like toward the end of production they omitted them.

Quite right - Opel never wanted people to know about the automatic trans as it was just a sop to US customers and tantamount to having a "Goes Slower" badge on the car ............
mine has an auto :o
