New to Forum from Woodstock IL

Hi everyone. I'm Joel and I am from Woodstock, IL. Woodstock is about 60 miles NW of Chicago. It is also where Groundhog day was filmed. My very first car I owned was a 74 1900 2dr. Wagon. I stumbled upon this website trying to find pictures of my first car for guys at work. I always use my username for a lot of things for the net. I had to log in to see if my old car was one that was in a forum asking how many wagons were in the States. My baby was Signal Green with factory AC, original paint, limo black tint all around, and pretty darn clean for a Midwest car. I will have to scan some pics in so you guys can see it. I would love to see if she is still around. Last I heard it went to a yard and there it rested. I knew of an orange one that was near the Cal-Sag channel in a yard that I aquired parts from. My son claims his friend's Grandpa has a brown one in his back yard. I would love to know if there are other fellow Opel nuts in my area. I don't see them in this area at all.

Welcome to the group. I hope you find your car. I bought my first Manta in DeKalb from Schultz Buick in '75. It was a '74 Rallye demo. It suffered greatly from hard driving and snow belt salt, finally going to rest in '86 after 180 kmi. It was hard to find parts back then without the internet plus my family was growing and the income did not support project cars. Luckily I rejoined Opel community in 2000 with a '71 GT that I drive regularly to work. Great cars. My son is restoring a '74 Manta and has been driving a '73 GT for 7 years.
