It run good but it looks like it could use new window seals. I can get it for $850.00. need some interior work and paint. Can't decide if this is the car I want or not. but it sure is a cool little car. I have been a chevy nova man until now. thanks Joe

Opel GT Source --- Welcome
http://www.dr-manta.de/english.htm Above are links to part suppliers. Is the vehicle in question an Ascona (known in the US as a Model 1900) or a Kadett? The Ascona and Manta are quite similar and share the same platform. The Kadett was a different body style and shared its platform with the GT. The engine in most of the '71s was usually the low compression 1.9L. This was shared between the Kadett, Gt, Manta and Ascona except for oil pans and valve covers. The same is true for the clutch and transmissions. The rearends are different. $850 sounds reasonable if the body is sound. Parts are easier to get now with the inet than they were 20 years ago. Watch ebay and Craigslist for parts and cars as well. Opels are good, solid dependable cars albeit they retain the "inexpensive" label they had when new. The desings are simple and easy to work on and maintain. They handle well and are fun to drive. If you have questions, check the archives here and ask feel free to ask. Terry |

http://www.opelgt.com/photopost/show...php/photo/9399 only with small bumpers, then it is a 1900 Wagon, but, in Europe, it is a Ascona A Voyage. It shares a lot of components with the Manta, and it shares the same motor and trans with all 1.9 or 1900 Opels. As for your windshield gaskets, they are available from two over seas sources Dr. Manta or o-t-r | Alles fr Ihren Opel We just placed a group buy from Dr Manta for just such gaskets, so, you can either order your own, or wait till the next group buy. The price for the Wagon seems fair, but, that's without seeing pictures of it, it's hard to tell. The main thing is to pull the battery out and see if the bottom of the battery box is still intact, this is the most common bad spot for these cars. Can you get some pictures and post? |
