New to forum, looking 4 GT

Hey,

I have been looking for an Opel GT for a while now, to no avail.
I have checked Ebay, and KSL (local classifieds) and was wondering if anyone here could point me in a good direction.

looking for Gt

I had some good advice that was given to me from another memeber of this site. You can do an advanced seach on Google for an opel gt and seach the domain craigslist.org. It will pull up all Opel Gt's for sale in all craig lists in the country. That is how I found my GT that I am picking up this weekend.

This realy works great!

There's a site called Craig's Helper that makes it easier to search all of the craigslist sites at one time. Try that.

I concur. Here's a link:
Craig's Helper - Search Craigslist Quickly and Easily
I found and bought my cream puff Opel Manta within one week last year on
Craigslist. Found it 200 miles away, met the seller at a rest area 1/2 way,
and after inspecting and driving the car I had my Opel.
Since it's both free to list cars for sale and buy too, I'd suggest you run a "Opel GT wanted" ad while you search in the areas your willing to look for cars. Good luck!

Take Care!

Asking another Opeler to 'point you in the direction' of a good Opel buy is a dangerous undertaking .....

I had an out-of-town Opeler ask me to look at a 1991 Opel Senator and find out the best price he could get it for ... well, despite me warning him that if the deal was too good I would buy it - he told me where it was.

... and after beating the seller down from $3,500 to $1,700 I owned (and still do!) a nice, real low milage Senny .... nuff said?

At the moment maybe. But GT's and all Opels for that matter are around and come up for sale, but you sometimes need to be patient and keep your eyes open.

If you're limiting yourself to what's close to you, then either it's going to take a long time to find one, or you're going to be stuck with what does pop up. Now if you don't mind travelling to get one, there's a good one coming up for sale, here in GA, with 77K original miles.

Because GT's are scarce and desirable like Ferrari's, the hunt for the right one
can take awhile. But the wait is very much worth it.

350 miles is close - Mine was 800 miles away ... in a country only 1,200 miles long! There are 12 known ones here, in Kiwiland, and I had never seen another one till recently.

About 70,000 were imported into the U.S. of A. - so maybe up to 20,000 left in all conditions - a couple of thousand in good condition - a couple of hundred in superb condition and very few with real low miles.

$12K for a truely good 36,000 mile car which is one owner from new ain't a fortune ... and 350 miles is real close!

Be careful, if those pictures are anything to go by it looks like it is or has been stored over grass. Grass and gravel usually store large amounts of moisture and can eat out a car in a few years.

Depending on how close it is, go take a look at it, just make sure it doesn't have any structural rust (ask around for specific locations.) Being unibodies rust can be quite decremental to Opel GTs.

My only advice is to take it slowly, don't jump on the first one you find.

Craigs helper

I actually liked Craigs helper at first, but you have to look at every town, even if it doesn't have your listing
Try CRAIG FIND, and type Opel, it will show only the keyword you listed. By the way I will have a nice Blue GT with GM A/C Automatic and black interior for sale in TN soon.
