<model number>-<factory ID><sequential chasis number> Start by reading this article. The metal plate inside the engine bay on the passenger side under the windshield should have the same VIN plus an exterior color code and interior code (among other things). Parts can be obtained from many sources including Opel GT Source and USA Opel. Search on here and you will find all kinds of information. As far as value - hard to say. Do you have pictures? Welcome to the forum! Matt

Provided that this is a 1.9l GT the VIN is not really necessary as parts are basically interchangeable between the years. Unlike some American cars the VIN done not provide a bunch of information on the specific configuration of the car.
If you only have a shell and doors and your intention is to build it back up into a complete car, I would say that it would be much less expensive to simply find a complete vehicle given the relatively low market value. JM2CW

Also, I edited my post above to be more clear as the exterior and interior codes are on the plate in the engine bay and not included in the VIN itself.

Welcome to one of the most active groups on this site.
Try to come out this Saturday for the meet. There will be a bunch of GTs there. Not sure what level of shell you mean, but you might want to know about these ads on craigslist. Also, there are a few members in the area that have a good collection of parts including BQS4 and Halo Effect. 70 GT Opel Engines
