Formal Introduction
I've already bought some parts to do a tune up and hope to have it reliable and on the road within a week or two. The car needs alot of little things done to it but nothing major (yet). I plan on doing a complete paint job and who knows what else! Thanks everyone that has already helped me! ![]()

Welcome to the site. You will find lots of useful information by doing searchs. Your car is generally called an "Ascona" which is the name it was sold under in Europe. They were called 1900s only in the US. They share many parts with the Manta. Some people have even put a Manta front clip on an Ascona for a unique looking car.

It was my pleasure to help you check the car out and nice to meet you and your dad.
I think you have a pretty solid little car there that should be good for lots of fun. Once you get that tune-up done and get some fresh gas, the fun will really begin. Enjoy!

Opel GT Source --- Online Store --- Cooling system Opel GT Source --- Welcome is a great place to get parts if you don't want to go searching for them. Many parts are interchangable with the Ascona. If you do find the hoses locally, can you let me know where? Thanks

Picked up a bunch of spare parts today. Extra transmission, two valve covers, RV cam, mostly complete front suspension, mostly complete rear suspension, rear end off a rallye manta, shocks, custom coil overs for the front, two wheels, intake manafold, clutches, and a flywheel. Probably more. I have to go through and start cleaning stuff up.
I'm thinking a slow process of cleaning up and powder coating the suspension and it will be nice to have back up parts. I'm excited to get going on it. |

Got a little more work done today while I'm waiting to repair my calipers. I took some advice from another posting on this forum and I picked up some spray in bed liner. I cleaned up my engine bay with some degreaser and sprayed away. I also picked up some sheet metal and blocked off the holes that were left over from removing the heater componets. Then I sprayed the sheet metal. Next up is some rewiring and cleaning up the rats nest of wires under the hood.
