Hello from Malaysia
I'm Pete from Malaysia and I stumbled upon this site not too long ago! Great place for anyone owning a Manta, which incidentally I have one, a 1972 Manta A. Bought it back in 1994 and had it restored and running after a year and a half later. But not in all its original condition though coz it was cheaper to plonk in a Nissan engine and 5-speed gearbox than to restore the original 1.9L. It's now my weekend vehicle for transporting me to the trailheads when I go mountainbiking. You can see pics of it by following this link: Picasa Web Albums - yellowmanta - My Manta I wonder if anybody can help me but I've never been able to properly align the frameless windows and when it rains (and it pours here in tropical Malaysia), water easily finds its way into my car. Cheers, Pete |

Welcome. Nicely done Manta you have, Pete. I like your Nephew's mini pickup
too. There is a window section in the factory service manual, but I didn't find it very informative when aligning my Manta's windows. I just went by the seat of the pants and got pretty good sealing around them. Not perfect but good enough.

Welcome to OGT.com Pete. I moved your thread to the Introductions Forum.
There are a few classic Opels in Malaysia, as I posted after my visit in 2003: http://www.opelgt.com/forums/opel-st...-malaysia.html and Otto posted these few years ago: http://www.opelgt.com/forums/opel-st...la-lumpur.html http://www.opelgt.com/forums/manta/4...-malaysia.html and a brief search for "Malaysia" also shows http://www.opelgt.com/forums/introdu...ew-member.html anyways, welcome again and good luck with the Manta.

Nice Manta! Is it bad that I like the Mini pickup more though? I have never seen such a thing. I think that that may be the only pickup that I am ever willing to own. Man, its SHWEEET!
Yea, enough of a sidetrack. Welcome to the forums! I am sure that anything you could need help with people here have either already answered or are plenty willing and ready to try to do so. |

Thanks guys for the nice welcome! Think my Manta is now all jealous over the attention the Mini pickup s getting!
There's actually quite a few of nicely restored Mantas running around in Malaysia, particularly in Kuala Lumpur where I'm based. But they are considered pretty rare still. On more than a few occassions, I've had fellow motorists chasing after me only to enquire about the car! http://www.opelgt.com/forums/images/smilies/lmao.gif Cheers Pete |
