Thumbs up GT Owner New to the Forum

OK, recently got resettled in N. VA and regained possession of my '73 GT. Have had it for several years, but have moved several times and had the car in storage (sort of). Got her back, and working through some "haven't been run lately" challenges. Glad to be back in the community and still loves the looks and questions I get about the car.

Glad you got your GT back and welcome to the site. Lots of helpful information and people here. About anything you need to know can be found with the search engine,or if you are unsure about anything just ask and someone will help you solve the problem. First thing on you list if you don't have one is a factory service manuel and next is a Destec wiring diagram.

Congratulations on getting your GT back and welcome to the site. There is lots of good information and help to be had here.
I see you are at Belvoir. Do they still have an automotive self-repair shop there? I was stationed there at a school once back in the dark ages.....crossbow and catapult repair, I think it was.

They do still have the shop, and I plan to check it out this week. Got cooling system issues big time. I do have a couple of manuals and will look into the wire diagram...got a turn signal inop. Good to be back.

If you can't clean or repair your stock radiator, here is a good inexpensive option at this e-bay site.. Several members have already installed this type in their cars.

Thanks Bob, hoping to get an original if I can't get mine repaired. Saw this in a thread a couple of days ago, but it mentioned having to fabricate brackets or some such. Not a machinist, so not sure I could do that. I do appreciate your assistance though. May have to go that route if the other fails.

I made the brackets for mine in about 20 minutes with a hacksaw and a drill. I'll make you the set that you need if you go that route.

I don't think it has been mentioned here, but, even though the Ebay radiator is a great upgrade, GoneGT needs one for automatic trans, a radiator with the auto trans cooler in the bottom of it. The Ebay one does not have this.

May have a line on a radiator for A/T GT. Not confirmed yet, but thanks for the help.

You can always use a separate tranny cooler mounted in front of the radiator.

Better option IMO, tranny stays cooler, engine stays cooler, no chance of intermingled fluids (ewwwww!).

SpringGT,
Just curious, but just how did the people who purchased the ebay radiators mount them? The four screw positions, are they through and through?

I can't say from experience , only from what I've seen people do on this site. Here are some installed pictures posted by PJ Romano.

I'm sure that the mounting bungs are blind-ended, not through and through. Otherwise, you would have five potential leaks to seal.
