i got grandpa's car

1971 Opel GT. my grandfather traded in his 1967 cuda to get it new off of the showroom floor.

first my grandpa gave it to my sister to drive when she was in highschool, man i couldnt wait to get my lisence. i got to drive it for about a year before i had to send it back to grandpa's house. i knew my cousin had it for a while but i lost track of it as i got older. i saw it once about 4 years ago and told my cousin to let me know if he was going to sell it. he must have forgotten, because i saw it with a for sale sigh on it at a family get together. luckily i have an understanding wife and i purchased the car.

original radio, wheels, tires, headliner, engine, service manual, window sticker, and only 89,000 miles!!! there is a lot that needs done before it hits the road again, but that pretty orange GT is in my garage.

i promise to use the search button before the new thread button.

dan, you are not the first salem member i have seen on here. i have not seen any GTs driving around Salem. i am sure i will be picking your brain and everyone elses sooner or later.

mine has 1500 miles!. after it rolled over.... maybe.

i like to think 1500 miles anyways.

i have the gas log for every fill up and every oil change from 1971 until 2006, when it was parked. it has not gone 188k, but i hope to drive it long enough to make it.
