Baja Opel

Hi everybody.

My dad gave me a 1968 GT when i turned 18.... (no wife no kid back then)
but my mom said no way,, how was i going to ride that little car to college.
So it went to storage(parked) in front of a friend house where it found its end in the hands of a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria going about 50 mph...Soo onto med school i went,, ( They gave me a 92 nissan Maxima, which was probably a better car for college and girlfriends) fast forward 15 years, found a nice 1971 GT on E bay for $600. Asked the wife...(Dont laugh..) surprisingly she said.."You deserve a nice hobby".. 3 years latter, Have replaced every cable in the car, rebuilt the starter, water pump, cleaned the radiator, new battery, rebuilt the clutch, put in new front and rear brakes (rebuilt) changed the solex for a weber 32/36 DGVA and dont know how many times ive heard " no sir that car is not in my computer." or one of my favorites " i can only work on the carb if its an original carb in that car".

...OK?....put in new 15" wheels and tires... And i just recently found this forum, wow...

! there isnt one single question/upgrade that ive thougt of that has not been covered before..
Im just glad not to be alone anymore in my Opel GT love affair..

This too has been discussed on the site, it's called "Opel-itis"and there is NO cure....now repeat after me...

Welcome. Hmmmm A doctor with an Opel. Maybe he will find a cure for Opelitis(I hope not!).

Where are you located? There are many groups which get together for various events.

Jeff, Yes here is a doctor with an Opel, but for the life of me, can't seem to find the cure for this, addiction,, have been ill since 16 years old... don't see a cure in the near future.... I live down in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, 15 minutes south of San Diego...

As I child I'd scream "Opel GT" anytime I saw one on the road. Junior year in highschool, with tentative acceptance to college, with a tentative scholarship, if I kept my grades up, my Dad asked me what kind of car I wanted (I had been driving whatever was available until then) and I answered, "An Opel GT, or a Saab Sonnet." Dad firmly ixnayed the Saab.
