    Hello, everyone

I just got around to introducing myself. I have been into opeling since the early 1970's. I have owned at least one of every model that was inported to the US. I presently have 2 GT's in the process of being put back togather. I worked on Opels for about 18 years and although I am a bit rusty I think I remember where everything goes. I am into making power outta 4 cyl. opel motors. The best I have ever done is 190hp out of a 60 over 1.9 with stock stroke. no Nitros, no turbo just german engineering and yankee enginuity.

Welcome back into Opeling. I'm sure your experience will offer the site alot of insight! I've just gotten the 'itch' back in the last year myself. Look forward to your input.

Me too! I had a bit of Opel experience back in the late 70's rebuilding engines, etc. There isn't a bolt on a GT that I haven't removed at one point or another. I was away from Opels for 20 years, and just got back into it within the past 2-3 months with the adoption of a GT. Perhaps this is the sign of a renaisance?

i'm wondering why type of trans was used back in the 70's for a motor that powerfull.............or if you opted for a 4 speed still how often you changed them and how fast you have gotten, lol. just gotta love those wussy 4 speeds.

I ran a narrowed up 8 3/4" Mopar rearend with a spool and used a 5 speed Chevette transmission I had 10" rear slicks and turned the engine 7000RPM it would carry the front tires thru first gear (which I had to shift at the tree)and the 60 foot time was 1.46 seconds (yes it left hard) and I did break third gear twice but I don't think that is a lot of breakage for what I was putting it through. The only problem I had with the rearend was getting the pinion angle right for the car to plant the rear wheel.
