Unanswered: Combo Switch Needed

Hi Guys:

Perhaps this should go in the Parts Wanted section but I need some views.

I need the FOG LAMP/BRAKE/FLASHER switch for my 70 Kadett Rallye.

The back of the switch has 11 contacts and the critical one that has to be on the back is 54F in the upper left corner.

The other contacts are: S49a R 30 L +49 15 31 S N 15

The Flasher Switch must be free and easy to move.

Thanks, Ray Morley

Ray, I think it may be the same as the item on a GT. Is the part #8962227? Jerry

Hi Jerry: I will have to take the unit out and check the number. If anyone has one with the number: 8 953 475 this will not work as it is missing the 54F contact.

Can't help you with the part, sadly, but when you're ready to hook up fog lights, wire them up through a relay to keep from running the high current through the switch contacts directly. The switch is NOT!!! designed to be directly connected to fog lights . . . not for long anyway. See rallye wiring diagram for proper wiring of relay into fog light/hi-beam circuit. If properly wired, fog lamps go off when hi-beams are used (TÜV requirement).

Hi Otto:

Since I have the Rallye the Fog Lamps are already on the vehicle and wired in. This part of the switch is not causing me the grief.

What happened is the FLASHER switch was selected ON and then jammed in the ON position. When I carefully tried to select it OFF it did go to the OFF position but the lights remained flashing. The switch does not have the on/off function anymore. I had no problem isolating the wire to prevent the flashers from flashing but that inhibited the turn signal funtion.

Is this switch set-up used on the GT? If so, I may have one, just have to check my stash.

Here are some pics of the unit. Actually this is exactly what the front and rear of the unit looks like except for the back.

If you look at the upper left corner you can see where I have applied a small piece of masking tape. This is the location of 54F which this switch I am using for the pics does not have. The switch I need must have this connector spade.

The unit I have from a GT is different. I'll try to post them here for reference. Sorry, Jerry

The spare switch I have for my GT doesn't have that 54F connector either.

Yes, it does work, in fact it goes in either position with a loud click. Yes, it can be bought.
