I am not sure how nice it is. But he says 1500 engine but car is marked as 1900 engine. Plus of course they didnt offer the 1500 in any year but 68. All that being said, it looks not quite as good as the one I bought for $300 and am now restoring.

Rallye Kadett
70 was the last year for the Rallye Kadett, and from looking at the tail lights it is a 70. Looks like it is all there down to the Rallye Lights, while missing some switches on the dash panel and a few minor things it would make a very good donor car for someone wanting to build a Rallye. It has everything needed to make a Rallye clone except the wheels, if I was into Kadett's this would be worth looking into.

It has a GT valve cover...instead of the stamped steel one that it would have come with

For a guy who's not into Kadetts, I'd say you've owned some pretty fast ones!

Rallye Kadett
Actually the fog lights are incorrect, they are an aftermarket style. It appears the fenders are rotted away from the rust holes. I fear lots of rust on this car. The paperwork is interesting though. If it were a 69 I think I would go after it.

I say run away, the car is not only misrepresented, it is not in very good condition at all. |

I sent him an email when I saw the auction, and it came back like "Oops - I changed it to 1900".

I can't say that I've ever seen a Kadett that wasn't a wagon in person, so it looks a different to me. There is a lot of rust on this car. There are some places where there is obvious body work. I think that there are a few parts that might make it worth picking up but not for the price. I think that at 600 even you might want to see it in person.

Rarity
I find they are getting rarer to find in nice shape. I am in the hunt for a 1969 Kadett Rallye as long as it is a 1.9 4 speed. I would settle for a 68 as well. These cars just rusted out a lot quicker than even the GT...plus they were considered an economy car. I think once the GT came out, the little Kadett was forgotten about. I guess they are not so much rare, but hard to find in a nice driver shape. If the car was a 69 I think I would go after it even though it was rusty; I have a lot of NOS parts for that particular year model

This car cannot be allowed to 'disappear'! It has the extremely rare upside down front bumper guards!
Kidding aside... Unless that front valance was used for towing, I'd say it had a front spoiler of some sort, but now damaged. Anyone know of any companies that offered duckbills for Kadetts, 'back in the day'? Any good pics? I think as a group of enthusiasts for a particular marque, we are in an awkward position. The cars we like so much are still pretty much stuck on the bottom end of the collector car market. This creates a problem in that, rationally, it makes no sense to buy this car and spend the money to restore it with regard to what it's value would be. This means that cars are not restored, but left to rot or get crushed. Even rare cars. The more that get crushed, the less there are for the future. How many Rallye Kadetts are left out there, regardless of condition? As enthusiasts and custodians of this particular heritage, what good is it if there is only one car left when they finally climb the value ladder? Or no cars left? Maybe this car can be saved, maybe it can't, but if someone has a dry place to put it then there is a little more left for the future. Who knows, maybe when there is only one decent Kadett Rallye left, this one will provide the ultra-rare, highly sought after upside down bumper guards. Three past failures on my part: 1-absolutely rust free, straight blue body, nice interior 69 1.1 Kadett I found in a junkyard about 13 years ago. I kid you not, the only thing it needed was a good paint buffing. 2-Test drove a yellow 68 1500 Kadett Rallye back in '88. Decent car with fender rust. Had all Rallye equipment. $500, but I passed on it. 3-68-early 69 Rallye Kadett. Metallic green. The gauges were in a flat panel that went from the dash to the trans tunnel. Nice car. It had the usual old lady pulling into her garage scrapes on one front fender. Another 1500 as I recall. About $800. This was '95-'96.

As to finding one in nice condition, I suppose there is a few in captivity but they are rare which makes them desirable to some folks, just as their are people that actually collect Edsels. Much easier to find a good GT than a good Kadett and finding a good Rallye Kadett is not impossible but you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find one.
