Question Unanswered: Model 95 or 99 Kadett Sport Coupe?

I've run into a couple of anomalies in the listing of two specific Kadett model numbers and their descriptions and have pretty much exhausted my resources trying to verify their actual use, or not.

The Kadett LS Sport Coupe is listed in various Opel tech pubs for 1968 as a Model 99, and for 1969/70 as a Model 95. The problem is that I've never actually seen either of these model numbers used as the first 2 digits of any Sport Coupe VIN number, it's always Model 92, same as that of the Rallye or L Sport Coupe!

My '69 Kadett LS has a VIN 92******* and I don't think it's the anomaly, but rather the norm! So, anyone here either own or ever seen anything other than a Model 92 (VIN 92x.......x) Kadett L/LS/Rallye Sport Coupe?!

I just checked the 70 Rallye I have. It's a 92.

Model Numbers

My Kadett LS VIN starts with 92 as well, same as the Rallye. I questioned this as well when purchasing my car and realizing the VIN started with that. I then check the Opel Chassis and Body parts catalog. In the model chart it lists as such for 1969:

1969 92 (95) 2 Door Coupe - Super Deluxe and even states the chassis numbers will start with *92---------
What is funny is in 1970 the Kadett Rallye -still model 92, its VIN may start with 95

You are correct in stating that your LS is a model 92, I believe the catalog made changes as well and instead of giving them the same model number the LS and the Rallye, they just made the LS model 95.

Thats at least what I have gathered.

You're absolutely correct but overlooked one tiny Opel naming detail . . . the Kadett 2 Dr. Sport Sedan is indeed a Model 91, but the 2 Dr. Sport Coupe is a Model 92 in all its incarnations - L, LS and Rallye! . . . and I still have not seen or heard of anyone actually having either a Model 95 or 99, a 2 Dr. Sport Coupe L or LS.

. . . and BTW, the Model 91 Sport Sedan has a convex rear window while the Model 92 Sport Coupe in all its iterations has a concave rear window . . . that's the quickest and easiest way to distinguish them visually!

That is the whole reason for this thread, Opel publications say that here too, but no-one here has ever seen a "Coupé Fastback Luxus, for NA, 68 till 72", L or LS, actually identified as a Model 95! . . . they're all Model 92s! I own a '69 Kadett LS, which was the most fully equipped (i.e. expensive) Kadett model you could buy that year, and it's a Model 92 (VIN 92x......x).

As you can see in this Model Chart, the Kadett "Coupé Fastback" (Model 92 here in ALL forms - L, LS and Rallye) for only 3 years in the US, 1968-70.

Thanks, that appears to confirm the US Kadett A and B Model numbers then . . . and that Opel used Model 92 for both LS and Rallye Coupes!
