Unanswered: Kadett Rallye wheels
Now I've found a guy who will chrome the rims for $75 each (which I think is pretty reasonable- he seems to do decent work) so I'm leaning towards having the stock rims chromed and just leaving it like that. While he's at it I would probably have both bumpers done, they aren't too bad but have some pitting and flaking on the lower sides. Any pics of other Rallyes and what you have done to your rim/tire combos? |

Have Opel, Will Travel

They were available from the dealership in chrome as well, I had 2 on my first Rallye that the owner had purchased as they were being discontinued. So chrome wouldn't look out of place even.
The chrome ones had black centers, IIRC.

Chrome Rallye wheels
The chrome wheels were an option. In 1967-1/2 thru 1969 they were just the standard wheels chromed, with no center caps. The 1970 wheels were available chrome with GT center caps. I like the center cap option, but if you are being a purist-no centers until 70. The wheels shouldn't have any clips. Also just because it is a Rallye, doesn't mean it came with chrome wheels

Powder Coat or Chrome
I have three of the chrome ralleye wheels, but I ran them on the front of the race car and the beads might be a little bit beat up. Anyway, a cheap alternative to chrome you might look into powder coating. They look pretty much as good as chrome. If you look at Nascar Car, Darrel Walthrap, Car 55, his wheels are powder coated, because Nascar cannot run chrome because they could not keep wheel weights on the chrome wheels.
