Nice job!
I almost hate to say it but a Ford V8 is such a cleaner fitment into an Opel than a Chevy engine. Gotta love narrow V8's. I almost dropped a 289 into my first Manta because the chassis mods were minimal. |

Boss 302 Kadett
Yes, the Fooord block is narrow but those heads are rather large, same configuration as the Cleveland 351 heads. I like the Fooord better as a swap for the location of the distributor and oil filter, that motor should hump pretty good with the ha-ha gas, hope the rest of the car is built with as much attention to detail and safety as the driveline. Front suspension is strut, no doubt and should have a healthy cage and full frame to handle all that HP and torque. As a pro-streeter it should be BAD at the stoplight races

Really, Shawn? An actual Boss 302, as in canted valves like the Cleveland?
This is gonna be a wicked little ride! Keep us updated with the progress. I wanna see it go. The white one Dieter shows is kind of interesting. I'd never seen that one before, why don't we see more of it? Kadetts don't usually look so buff. Nice little surprise under the hood there! The Bender Kadett is just plain bad to the bone. Looks like fun! Are there any more? Let's see them!

When I had a mild 302 Windsor in it and no NOS I was dabbling in the high 12s. I am shooting for the mid 9s, depending on how many runs i get and how quick I go I may need to upgrade the cage from a 6 to a 10 point depending on track rules.

Dieter would like to see a few more pictures of your Kadett, my 68 Rallye will be restored to original condition but I have a 68 sedan that will maintain the 1.1 engine but from there everything else will be subject to change. I am installing the 64 lights and grill work from a Kadett LS along with the lower valance as mine is in rough shape. I am looking for some turn signals lights for it to be placed under the head lights (dimension of the openings are 3.5 cm X 9.5 cm and the over all outside dimensions of the lights would be 4cm X12cm with mounting holes at 10.5cm center to center an suggestions?) with the round turn signal locations below the bumper in the valance (apron) will receive driving lights. Bumpers are off the 64 also as they are straight and have the bumper nerfs. What type of rear lights are you installing in your Kadett? I really like the updated look of the rear of your Kadett. It is very creative. I am also Restoring a 67 Kadett LS with a 1.1 with a SSD Solex 40mm sidedraft carb, and installing a moon roof from a later model Record.

Curvy
I like the back end. I've been told I need to cut open the rear fender lip for looks, and this one has done just that. I read the body parts are for a 1990 Astra? Is this correct Dieter? Also the front end needs some work, but Rallye colors would be sweet on this body, I like a blackout hood.

Closer examination
Looks like a 4-6 inch section was put in to widen the whole car, and a front end off a newer Opel I assume Vectra. Pretty wild imagination to construct this caliber of a car. I definitely envy the work put into it. Does give several ideas for us Kadett owners. I almost gave up on being a purist there for a minute, and going back to the Spyder days
. A custom Kadett would be sweet.Keith

Despite that being my absolute least favorite Opel body style ever, it's almost even a cool car.
Looking at it I for the first time got a mental image of a recessed, vertical rear window set forward in the C-pillars with the rear deck extended into the rear shelf area. Now I can't seem to shake the image and it almost makes me want to keep one of those to see if it would work.

Another thought
With this widened body, what do you do about the glass? Notice the pictures do not have it yet, I wonder if that was looked over. I still like the back half. Not sure about the front opening yet. But cutting open the rear fender wells isn't looking like a bad option now

What do you mean by cutting open the rear fender wells? I can't picture exactly what you mean. Can you supply a sketch please? Dieter

I love these new kadett styling mods. It makes me want to finis my dads 71 rallye and do the same body treatment.

Widened
Opelwasp, I don't believe there was a 71 model Rallye, would be a 70, possibly titeled as such
Dieter, if you go to the webpage of the car and look at the before pictures closely, you will see that it has front coil overs. Then closer it looks like the whole front end of another car has been put on the rear half of a Kadett. Then if you look at the rear shot with the taillight holes fabbed up, you can see on each side of the trunk 2 inches have been added. Then look at the middle of the roof line, 4 inches have been added there with a section. And even the license plate area has had a section put into it. Definitly widened. Thats why I said very creative workmanship, but what about the glass now Keith

Mean "Kadetts"
If you mean examples of "Kadetts" check out OzGemini.com :: Home. Those guys do some amazing stuff with the isuzu /Aussie variant. Lots of different engine and drive train options.
Not so many v8 conversions, more turbo 4's and rotaries. There is a member, gemracing, who regularly runs 8's with mill based on a standard G161Z. |

Took a few pics at a Stuttgart swap meet and exhibition last month.
It's a pretty well known ex-competition car driven by Helmut Mander with it's quite pschedelic paint scheme. The car was succesfully raced at least until the late 70s I think (went through a few bodies though). Still shows it's vintage marks from accidents and at least one rollover. Also notice the crossflow head. Bad to the bone. http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/q...ttgart/070.jpg http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/q...ttgart/066.jpg http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/q...ttgart/068.jpg http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/q...ttgart/069.jpg |
