Kadetts rock!
Dieter,
AWESOME. Can we see more pics of the buildup? Please?? What source have you found for window rubber/gaskets? I like the wheel lip arches, as they are understated and clean. Very nice! What deciding factor(s) caused you to not use the Steinmetz-type flares available through OGTS? Thanks in advance for your response! I'm currently into a '71 Kadett B wagon restomod, and have owned a '70 Kadett LS since 1976. Kadetts are the Rodney Dangerfield of the Opel universe...but without 'em...ne'er would there have been the GT! |

I bought all new window and door rubber back when I lived in Germany. If I'm not mistaken, I bought it at www.opel-classic-parts.com out of the Netherlands.
I did all body mods also back in Germany, at a time when I couldn't even spell "OGTS" . The rear part of the wheel "flares" were part of the Ascona A rear spoiler (from Lenk) that I completely cut apart and put together different, and the front parts are my own creation - in sheet metal! The top of the rear wheel housings are original, and large enough to have the 205/50 on 15x7 BBS Junior wheels underneath it.Motor is a 2.0-16V out of a Calibra, with less than 10 kmls on it. With a few mods (hot but not too hot cams, the Lexmaul RAM Induction, big 4-2-1 headers) I expect around 170 hp. Gear box is a Getrag 240 out of Manta B OHC or Rekord E OHC. I moved to the States in 1998 and brought all parts with me. I planned on uploading pictures for quite a while but never feeled (felt) the need to do it NOW... So Famous I'm Infamous

I believe that the people on this site have respect for ALL Opels. Mostly people on this site have the 4 models that were imported to the states by GM. A few people have bought or imported older or newer models. I know that Garys got a Rekord which by the way won Pic of the Month for April.

67 Kadett L
This is a picture from 1984 of me with my 67 Opel Kadett L w/ 69 taillights installed (my first car). As many people do, I wish I still had this car.
I'm currently looking for a 67 Kadett L like this one and if anybody knows of one that is salvageable please let me know. Opel Kadett L.jpg Last edited by tekenaar; 05-24-2007 at 10:38 AM.. |

1967 Kadett Rallye "L"
My little 1.1SR Kadett is getting an engine make-over at the moment:
Punched out to 1.2L with Vauxhall Viva pistons; 1256 Viva valves and an Irmscher SSD manifold with a 40mm DCOM carb. I am sticking to the original (but NEW) 'SR' camshaft with a freshed up bottom end with Vandevell bearings and NEW hi-performance oil pump. No body mods as it is one of the very first Rallyes made with an engine number below that of the first ones imported into the U.S. of A. - 11SR 0003479 If it were for sale it would cost an arm and a leg to get it back across the Pacific Ocean! A couple of pics - the front on one is the first glimpse I saw of it in its storage shed before buying it ... the others are taken after I got it home and washed. GTJIM,
Those mods should make it a lot quicker. What do you figure for HP gain? Probably around 25-30 over stock. Where did you source the Viva 1.2L pistons, and how much were they? I already have the valves from a 1256 that I got on UK ebay w/the help of Baz. I am already running the Irmscher SSD intake w/ 40DCOE on my69 Kadett wagon, way better than the stock duals. Keep us posted on your progress. Kevin |
