Thumbs up Unanswered: A little Kadett LS eyecandy

My 'faux wood' glovebox trim is discolored and was separating at the edges. Since my instrument panel 'faux wood' trim is somewhat worse for wear than the glovebox, rather than just regluing this plastic strip, I'm going to fabricate all my trim from leftover Bubinga wood veneer that Bob L. sent me for my Bitter SC dash and console a couple of years ago.

I have enough to do all four pieces and just completed the first trim piece on my glovebox. Enjoy!

Wow! That's bada-bing-ga beautiful!! Nice work! I'm contemplating using wood veneer for my Manta gauge clusters since the original stuff has faded on the lower sections. You've inspired me!

Do Mine

When you're finished, you can come and do the Kadett here in the shop . . . maybe the Ascona also. Whats up?

Bubinga wood radio trim piece for an original, period correct, twin-shaft Blaupunkt 4-band mono radio fabricated from a modified original "radio delete" trim piece, which was still in the glove box from the original owner when I bought the car. Retains continuity all the way across the dash with the glove box trim done earlier and the dash instrument panel to be fabricated next . . .

Blue Dot

You got me on that one, saw one go for over $200 on ebay . Anyway may have run across the back blank knob for it the other day, stuck it in with all of the other radio knobs in drawer of the tan upright. Remind next time you get by and I will pull it out and see if it's the correct one or not.

Thanks for looking out for me, Rod.

Original owner kept everything relating to her Kadett . . . a whole binder full of repair and parts receipts, yearly license stickers, annual inspection docs, etc. . . . probably the best documented Kadett in the world . . . I mean, who else would bother?!!

Thumbs up Dash instrument panel trim

Finished the last dash trim piece fabricated from Bubinga wood veneer and finished with urethane spar varnish for the instrument panel in my '69 Kadett LS. Not as easy to make as I had thought . . . enjoy!
