If you knew somebody who can do that, that would be wonderful.

It's really simple! Just go to your local heavy equipment dealer and ask to have one made up. Any size or style or length of push/pull or just pull cable that is found in equipment can be ordered through a Morse Cable dealer. I once had a quicker way to get them, bypassing dealers and going straight to the factory, but that was back when we had two dozen cement mixers...
Know what you're doing and have a plan, this would be a custom cable and you have to design it, not the parts man, he probably won't know what an Opel GT is and they don't work on cars, anyway! There's probably a Morse website that has the catalog of all the different types of cables and the variety of end linkages that would get you started. The one we use on Speedway GT is so beefy and overkill that the tech man sends people over to my pit to see how to do it right. They don't allow icky rigged throttle cable at the racetrack.

locost lokar
Lokar is really easy to replicate, all you need is some an-3 stainless braided teflon lined brake line and the appropriate ends. Had to extend both my Lokar throttle cable and kickdown on my old truck and never had an issue.
Boat supply places are great too, if you need a really heavy duty cable. All you need is the magic word: Morse.

Throttle cable
That's what I need. The first picture shows the connection to the throttle body. This connector needs to be the same on the new cable. The second pic shows the gas pedal side of the existing cable. Whether the new one looks identical or different I don't care much about, since I have to fabricate the brackets anyway.
Neither my "local" industrial equipment dealer (I went all the way up to Atlanta), nor Lokar or Pegasus have the throttle-fitting end piece. Maybe one of you know any other car where the correct end piece is used, so I can extend my search to Autozone or other parts dealers. Dieter

The barrel lug for the throttle end is actually easier to find than you might think. Swing into your local auto parts store and look therough the "help" section, they are used for throttle and heater controls on VW's and I've never been in a parts store that didn't have them.
If you can't get one there that works, you can also make your own with a couple set screws, a drill bit, a grinder, and an appropriatly sized long threaded nut (the kind you use to join two pieces of all-thread.) Drill a hole in the center the size of your cable, grind the OD down to round, then insert a set screw in each end and tighten them on up. Probably want some lock-tite too, after you get the length set for good.

Dieter - you might try here. I did a lot of surfing and plan on ordering some stuff from them when I do my custom linkage. I've never ordered from them though.
