So I'm considering selling my B...what's it worth stateside?

I'm trying to gauge its worth, to see if shipping it stateside and selling it would be worth my while. I'm stationed in Germany and have an '80 Manta B GT/E. 2.0 engine, automatic, and wired for A/C [removed the bad compressor and replaced the radiator with a non-AC one for cost reasons; the proper radiator and a compressor would give this car AC]. It's orange with a black vinyl top and black interior with center console. I have the original radio, which works, but an aftermarket unit is currently installed [no damage to dash from it]. Runs great, got some vacuum leaks so it idles a bit rough, but it only has about 105K kilometers. Not perfect by any means but in pretty good shape, with some filler around the rear windows and the antenna mast broken off. I honestly love the car, but I think that as a rare car in the States it would be better off with someone who could take the best care of it. I may wind up in Texas, so I'll likely wind up with another older car, but something bigger with a body that can easily be worked on by American techs, with junkyard spares available. I have to pay to ship this one or sell it here, as I'm only entitled to one vehicle shipment on my orders, and that one is the family car. I leave here July 1 or so of next year. Any ideas? Offers are welcome, too.

    market

There's only a few of us here who would seriously be interested in that car, you would have almost no market among generic used car buyers. Some of our gray market Opels are pretty undervalued. I doubt very much you would be able to recoup the transportation investment to anyone but a real Opel nut.

If you were going to be there another couple years I'd recommend bringing back a Speedster, that would have real marketability.

On a different note, since we all know you're over there now, how do you feel about shipping parts over......? lol

Bring back a 16V Calibra, or a Calibra Turbo....I know at least one guy who'd be interested in buying either (me), and one guy who'd have to sell either his GTO or his first born....
Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly and for the same reason.

Sorry you guys, the catch is that for a vehicle to make it through customs exempt from federal [NHTSA and EPA] regulations, it has to be 25 years old. Else I would pick up a Senator or diesel Signum, or hell, a BMW 5-series wagon. And about parts, well, my mind is open, on a very small scale, but it's against military regs to use the Military Postal Service for a regular business.
Don't be afraid to ask. though.
About the Manta, the fact that it's Automatic makes it less desirable to many Germans. Also, the fact that it is AC-ready is VERY unusual; my mechanic has worked at the Opel Werke here for 15 years and has been around Opels his whole life, and has NEVER seen a Manta B with AC.

    price???

What is the price you would be looking to get for the Manta B, also what what is the PX charging you to ship it back with your # 1 car. Also will you be required to have everything repaired, such as any dents or scratches touched up to prevent rust and meet all of the TUV requirements prior to shipping it out of country?
Here in Texas there are about 4 to 6 Manta B's. Let me know what your price is, my email is rodney(at)opelwrx.com also please send a few pictures with it. Thanks,
