Looks like you've got some work ahead, but also looks well worth it! I like aftermarket the mirrors and wheels on your Manta, and that flamed valve cover is WAY cool!! Good luck with your project, and keep us abreast!

Sven.. I will donate a battery box metal patch kit I designed if you want to pay shipping.. Think to Croatia it would be about $40 in a flat rate priority box.
BTW.. pressure is the same for all of the high compression motors.. about 130-170 PSI give or take. The more important thing is the compression be within 5-10% of each other from higest to lowest. Thats the most important thing to check out. BTW.. must be nice to be in Europe and just pick up a 80s-90s junker for parts.. Those of use here in the US are a little jealous... Charles

That would really help me allot.
however i don't feel comfortable with taking presents, I would be willing to pay you for it if its affordable. ![]() btw.. 2.2 rekord's are actualy very rare around here, there are other Rekords, but not this one, it obviously wasn't produced in large numbers, and most of them are scraped for the brakes. This one was actualy supposed to be impounded by the police for some kind of registration iregularity, but was hidden in a barn for 7 years, and now i found it and bourght it for peanuts. I am a bit sorry for the car because its in perfect condition bodywork-wise, but there really is no other use for it since there are no ownership papers in existance. see if you can think of anything not too big to ship that you need from a european opel, and i can check at the local junkyard.

a getrag 240 shouldn't be hard to find, actualy someone was just offering me one for 400kn which translates to around 80$ US, I didn't see it so don't know about condition yet, its, no problem getting, its shipping that i'm worryed about.
![]() how can those things be collecting dust? I thought there isnt one manta in the world with an original rust free baterry box, everybody must need them. |

Sent some to Gil at GT Source and Todd at Opels Unlimited, both as far as I know niether sold any. I sold a number after I first made them but had little call for them after that.
I am sure if I stuck them on ebay they would sell, but havent had time to do that. Here is the link to the kit I designed: http://www.opelgt.com/forums/manta/3...eet-metal.html Also Dr. Manta has the frame rails, wheel arches, floor boards and jackpoint patches.. even has a better battery box, but it covers less, doesnt have the firewall patch, etc.. and costs a lot more. Shipping the transmission shouldnt be too much of a problem. Drain it of all fluids, and then send FedEx.. but depending on your postal system them may take it postal. Just has to be in a good plywood box wrapped in cardboard. Could use two of them actually ![]() Charles

when i said shipping could be a problem, i didn't mean I was worried about the poor postal workers geting smudged with oil, I was worryed about the cost of shipping someting that size and weight accros the ocean.
I have the part of batery box that goes on the side where the front fenders attach, i managed to buy a replica of it. chassis legs are the no. 1 thing i need, but Dr. manta has some kind of really insane prices. prices that i could buy a whole car for. its not working at the moment so i can't see exactly, but i remeber from before that things where sold like they are made of gold insead of ordinary steel. |
