Unanswered: Manta V6
Shot in the dark...Years ago I owned a 74 Manta and installed a Ford 2.6L V6, custom headers, Offenhouser intake (could convert from 2 barrel to 4 barrel carb), Burgundy with custom stripes. Sold the car in the early 80's in the Calif Bay Area. I don't think there were many of these conversions happening back then. Interesting to see what people are doing these days. A V8??? I just ran across some old photo's and was wondering if the car even exists today. It ran great, I loved taking on BMW 2002ti's back then and blowing them off the road. david |

Not to many people swapping engines on Mantas and Asconas here in the states. They should be. Personally, I'd like to see a Grand National Turbo in a Manta. I wouldn't mind putting a Thunderbird 3.8 SC in one or even just a 4.1 Vortec like the guy at Carlisle last year. Check this out though.

I put the 4.3 liter vortec in an Ascona wagon. I think thats the one your talking about at carlisle. It tucks in there real nice and snug and its plenty of motor for the car. If you want to see it check out my photos. A v8 in an ascona is almost impossible unless you extend the noise or take firewall back 4 inches. Thats why i went with the v6
