Unanswered: 1975 manta fuel pump

My 75 supplemental FSM does not really show what I am looking for. Can anyone post a picture of the proper electric fuel pump mounting and rear fuel filter placement and mounting locations? My car had no filter and I think the non oem fuel pump was mounted where the filter should go. Also, although the factory wiring is there for the pump, it has been rigged and extended to reach where the pump is currently located, to the right of center in a bracket attached in front of the fuel tank. Thanks, Gordy

Although this is a picture of an aftermarket pump and filter, the locations are correct. The pump mounts in a bracket that is rubber-isolated just after the sending unit/pickup tube, while the fuel filter is after the pump....

HTH,
Bob

Here's another picture with an aftermarked pump.
I just redid the whole area with a new Wix filter and pump suction hose when
I replaced my sender float cork.

Thanks for the great and timely pics. My pump is currently mounted where the fuel filter should go. I will need to take another look at the rubber mount that the pump is supposed to be attached to. The rubber mount is there but there is no bracket with which to attach the pump with. I wonder if Todd at Opels unlimited might have one. The car currently has a carb so the fuel pump is only a 4 pound pressure pump. This summer I will be putting the factory EFI back in it and I have a remanufactured oem pump (42 pound pressure I believe) which I would like to get set up correctly. Thanks again for your help!

The pump bracket is a rounded triangular piece attached by three shock mounts (often found broken or just hanging on) that can be fabricated with a little ingenuity. The bracket itself, as you've seen, has a semi-circular clamp over rubber to let the pump itself shake around a bit.

I thought the 1975 service supplement had a picture but it doesn't, as you've already found. Sorry.

Good luck,

Jim

I think Opelbits has the fuel pump mount, so you might try him. If he doesnt I do.

In the bottom right corner of the picture you will see the pump and bracket. This is what they look like. (save the chrome) The bracket is newly chromed. The stock one is painted. This bracket is for Manta and Ascona. Both I will sell. the bracket will come with new mounting bushings. You can pm me for more info. HTH
