little off topic

I also was looking to upgrade to a 1-wire alt with more output, is there one you have in mind or that is a direct fit?

the gm 105 amp alternator, it is a 1 wire alternator and has an internal voltage regulator...look in the photo gallery under alternator and there is a pic that guyopel put on there comparing the sizes...and also do a search on the forum for alternator and there is a thread about doing the swap...

Thumbs up This thread got my GT running

The CompuFire thread is awesome, but this thread is a little more clear[er] and concise on how to actually set it up. I bought the GT 4 years ago and not had much time to work on it. I finally buckled down and have been working on it intensely. This was the last thread I read before I got the car running. I just wanted to say thank you.

The car has a clicking sound under the valve cover, besides that it's responsive, starts easy and idles well. I love it.

This is indeed the point where it starts getting expensive. So much more things i can do to it.

71 GT, Weber, EZ-Wire, CompuFire.

Ticking sound: adjust valve lash yet?, timing chain slapping around a bit, or exhaust leak can sound like that too they tell me.

Ticking Sound

I think I will start looking for the exhaust leak. I have noticed exhaust coming out of the engine.

I have not been able to run the car for very long. PO has retrofitted a over sized alternator and since the distributor has been rotated the alt gets in the way of the advance/retard.

Soon as I take care of that Ill be able to isolate the problem. Matter of fact I am looking at that alternator mentioned earlier in this thread.
